NL In het Dolfinarium te Harderwijk zag ik tussen het verblijf van de Steller Zeeleeuwen en de Dolfijnen-arena een gebouw met iets op het raam. Toen ik dichterbij kwam zag ik ‘laboratorium dolfinarium’ staan. Dit moet dus één van de gebouwen en plekken in het Dolfinarium zijn waar onderzoek naar de zee-zoogdieren gedaan wordt.

Zolang het Dolfinarium bestaat, wordt er op het park onderzoek gedaan. Zowel eigen deskundigen (dierenartsen en zeebiologen) als externen (wetenschappers, universiteiten) maken graag gebruik van deze efficiënte ‘laboratorium’-situatie in het Dolfinarium. Er worden onderzoeken gedaan die bijdragen aan de problematiek van dieren in de natuur, zoals geluidsoverlast (scheepvaart, boorplatforms en windmolenparken) en bijvangst. Veel van deze onderzoeken zijn in de natuur onmogelijk.

Het Dolfinarium is uitermate geschikt voor onderzoek naar en bij zee(zoog)dieren, omdat de band tussen mens en dier heel sterk is. Gecombineerd met de jarenlange ervaring en kennis van onze medewerkers leidt dit regelmatig tot baanbrekende resultaten.
ENG In the Dolfinarium in Harderwijk I saw a building with something on the window between the residence of the Steller Sea Lions and the Dolphin arena. When I got closer I saw 'laboratory dolphinarium'. This must therefore be one of the buildings and places in the Dolfinarium where research into marine mammals is done.

As long as the Dolfinarium exists, research will be conducted in the park. Both our own experts (veterinarians and marine biologists) and external parties (scientists, universities) like to make use of this efficient 'laboratory' situation in the Dolfinarium. Research is being carried out that contribute to the problem of animals in nature, such as noise pollution (shipping, drilling platforms and wind farms) and bycatch. Many of these studies are impossible in nature.

The Dolfinarium is extremely suitable for research into and with marine (mammals) animals, because the bond between humans and animals is very strong. Combined with the years of experience and knowledge of our employees, this regularly leads to groundbreaking results.
