A short distance north of this site stands the remaining portions of the Oasis Hotel, one of the earliest Modernist buildings in California. In 1952, learning that new owners were planning to demolish parts of the hotel to build the Oasis Commercial Building, McManus moved the family home (an adobe built in 1884) and the Wright-designed dinning hall with its intricate scissor truss roof to land that is now the Village Green Park where it was re-purposed.
