The library traces its roots back to 1957 as the Camp Hill Library. In 1967, the West Shore Public Library was opened on 31st Street. As the library continued to grow, the need increased for a larger building, and in 2000 construction began on a new building on 19th Street. The library opened as the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library in January of 2001.
