Centenarian Mary E. Ree is laid to rest at the southwest side of Fairlawn Cemetery, in Block 6A just south of center. She shares an upright marker with her spouse William O., who preceded her in death in 2002. Their headstone has the following inscription:

Mary Elizabeth (James) Ree, 106, passed away in Caldwell on Friday, November 17, 2017.
Mary was born on November 5, 1911 in High Point, NC, the daughter of George and Eula (Beane) James. She grew up in High Point and attended school there. She attended the Success College of Business where she pursued a course in business.
She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, and Oklahoma as a secretary until her marriage to William Oscar Ree on January 24, 1948 in Stillwater, OK. William and Mary had one son, William, Jr.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater and was active in the fellowship society and Treasurer for several years. She was also a Cub Scout den mother.
She resided in the Bryan/College Station and Caldwell area since 2000. In her retirement, she enjoyed watching a wide variety of sports on television, including the Houston Astros, as well as frequent visits from her son & daughter-in-law’s poodle, Penny.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister-in-law Florence Orr.
She is survived by her son, William O. Ree and wife Margie of Caldwell, and two grandsons, Christopher Ree of Fort Collins, CO and Jeremy Ree of College Station.
Graveside services will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, OK with Donnie Wood officiating. Visitation will be at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
