This, the 18th carousel manufactured by the Philadelphia Tobbogan Company (PTC), Germantown, Pennsylvania was finished in 1909. The master carver, Leo Zollar, hand carved the 42 horses himself and was paid $1,000 for his craftmanship. It was shipped to locations in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania prior to being refurbished in the mid 1920's. It was brought to Long Branch Park in Syracuse in 1926 when refurbishing was completed. It stayed there even after the park had closed in 1938. In 1941 Carousel PTC No.18 was purchased for Roseland Park in Canandaigua, New York. It stayed there for 43 years until the park closed for good at summers end in 1985. The park auctioned off all of its attractions, including PTC No. 18, two weeks later. Pyramid Companies purchased the carousel for $397,500 and spent two years restoring the ride to its original appearance. It now resides in the Carousel Mall in Syracuse, NY where people of all ages can ride for only a dollar.
