Garnett paper mill was erected in 1770 next to a weir on the River Wharfe. It was in continuous production until 2005.

The paper mill and surrounding area has now been developed into an area of new housing and at the same time this community hydro electric power station was erected.

It makes use of water flowing over the original weir to turn two Archimedes screws to generate the electricity.
Year of construction: 2016
