Like most fishing ports in Newfoundland, cod was once king. Since the 1992 cod moratorium, the cod fishery is limited to the family fishery. Additional species are caught from Leading Tickles: blackback flounder, capelin, lobster, snow crab, and squid.
There are thriving shellfish habitats nearby (blue mussel, for example) which may lead to a local aquaculture industry.
Leading Tickles harbour is located on Cull’s Island, Leading Tickles, which is at the mouth of Seal Bay in Notre Dame Bay on the island of Newfoundland in the north Atlantic Ocean.
The fish plant is in Leading Tickles South, across the water from this small craft harbour.
