Villages of Rodney and West Lorne
On March 19,1901, the Elgin County Council passed a by-law setting Rodney apart as a Police village. On December 27, 1907, Rodney was incorporated as a newly formed village. The first reeve was JJ Mistele.
On June 14, 1902, the Elgin County Council passed a by-law setting West Lorne apart as a Police village. On December 21, 1907, West Lorne was incorporated as a newly formed village. The first reeve was Dr. Wm. Brock.
Rodney and Aldbourough Township were amalgamated in 1993 as Aldbourough township. Aldborough and West Lorne were amalgamated in 1998 to become West Elgin.
this plaque was erected September 01, 2007 by the West Elgin council in commemoration of the 100th Anniversaries of the two villages.
