Henk van Bennekum's statue in Alblasserdam gets a second life...
We write July 9, 2009. The two circles, a sculpture by Henk van Bennekum, will be given a new, better place after twenty-nine years. The municipality of Alblasserdam, together with the Rivierenland Water Board, have decided that the monumental statue deserves a more suitable location. Since 1981, the design by Henk van Bennekum has stood on the site of the water treatment plant on Staalindustrieweg along the A15. What started as a beautiful, open location has now become a heavily built-up and overgrown area. In collaboration with Segno d'Arte, the specialist in the realization of spatial work, the statue has been temporarily moved to the open area in front of the slope of the Hoogendijk for major maintenance.
