The College Park Dog Park in College Park, Maryland, is an off-leash, members-only facility for residents of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. Open since 2002, the 30,000-square-foot, fenced-in outdoor area is part of the public Acredale Community Park on Metzerott Road which is immediately north of the University of Maryland campus. Access is through a gate that has a coded lock.
The large, grassy enclosure has three distinct areas - an entry foyer, the main play space, and a small dog section. There are pairs of park benches in both off-leash areas, several poop bag dispensers, a basket of tennis balls for playing fetch, water spigots, and a couple of plastic "kiddie pools" to fill when wanted. A parking lot is about 100 yards north of the dog park entrance.
"The College Park Dog Park Association coordinates membership-based access to the Acredale Park dog facility managed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, in College Park, Maryland and has done so continuously since 2002. The College Park Dog Park is open to all residents of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. To become a member, you must register each dog that you wish to bring to the park, pay annual dues, follow CPDPA Rules, and agree to the terms of membership. Only active members listed through this application process, and their registered dogs, are allowed to come to the park." (Source: College Park Dog Park)
