"Description:
Two-story, eave-roofed, partially plastered ashlar building of seven axes on high basement base under gable roof. Large rectangular windows, cross-story windows only at the gables. The building is made of ashlar: window frames, colossal Tuscan pilasters on all four sides, narrow cornice dividing the floors, eaves cornice, cornices dividing the floors on the gables. On the central side of the courtyard, a double flight of steps and a portal with a double skylight and ashlar framing with ashlar, entablatures, volutes on the sides of the skylight and a crowning coat of arms relief. To the east, on the courtyard side, there is a gateway: iron lattice gateway with two wings between sandstone pillars, crowned by vases, and lateral passages, on the easternmost pillar there is a figure of a sitting lion.
Built in 1638-1646 by Sylvester von Danckelmann, an Oranian land judge and vice-rosten. 1717-1719 remodeling: windows enlarged, pilaster arrangement, gateway. Acquired by the Prussian Domain Treasury in 1769, since then local court. 1969-1971 large rear extension of the Amtsgericht and gateway set back from the street.

Monument Justification:
Built in 1638-1646 for the then judge and vice-rosten of Lingen in Renaissance style and rebuilt in 1717-1719 in Baroque style, the Palais Danckelmann stands out among the secular buildings of Lingen and the entire Emsland region as a representative city palace and thus represents a type of building otherwise rarely found here. The palace thus has a historical significance due to its testimonial and visual value for the building history and even a supra-regional artistic significance due to its sophisticated and highly crafted design, which characterizes both construction phases. In addition, the building has a significance for the history of the city and the state due to its history of origin and its later use as a district court. Finally, the Palais Danckelmann occupies an important urban location on Burgstraße and is significant for the streetscape and even the entire townscape of Lingen. The preservation of the Palais is in the public interest."
