WPA Street Work
To Start Today

A WPA Street Improvement project costing $10,578.79 has been approved for Goldthwalte and work will start this morning. C. T. Ragland, local superintendent, estimates that 40 to 47 men will be employed from three to five, months on the project.

The Federal government is paying $6,802.62 or 62 per cent of the total cost and the city of Goldthwalte and property owners will pay the remaining 38 per cent which is approximately the cost of the material alone.

Sam Sullivan has been engaged to represent the city and is now securing agreements from property owners along authorized streets to stand their share of the cost. The work will include concrete curbs and gutters and sidewalks. It will cost the property owners 35c a front foot for each or a total of 70c for both sidewalks and curbs and gutters.
