Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church is located on East 4th Street in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania. It is the oldest Catholic parish in the city of Erie. The parish was founded in 1837 and had two former church buildings prior to the present one. The current building was begun in 1897, with the cornerstone laid in 1903, and the first Mass celebrated on Christmas Day in 1906.
In 2012, the parish completed a major restoration project on the church. The following year, Saint Patrick's was awarded with a "Greater Erie Award" from Preservation Erie, an organization created "to promote, preserve, and enhance the distinctive character of greater Erie through community-based planning, design, and historic preservation." According to the Preservation Erie website, "The Greater Erie Awards are presented annually by the board of Preservation Erie to individuals, businesses or organizations that are exceptional stewards of the physical and cultural landscape that is Greater Erie." They awarded a 2013 Greater Erie Award to Saint Patrick Parish, "In recognition of their exemplary commitment to the restoration and preservation of St. Patrick’s Church and the ecclesiastical heritage of Greater Erie."
