A long retired wooden maintenance trailer sits on display just south of a Union Pacific caboose near the junction of Berwick and Main Streets in White Haven, Pennsylvania. The antique piece is placed on a short set of rails and held fast by a chain through one of the wheels. A plaque mounted to its west sideboard reads:
LEHIGH VALLEY RAILROAD
SECTION MAINTENANCE TRAILER
USED TO TRANSPORT MATERIALS AND
TOOLS FOR THE TRACK AND OTHER
MAINTENANCE JOBS BEFORE THE ADVENT
OF THE HI-RAIL VEHICLE.
REMOVED FROM THE WHITE HAVEN STATION WINTER OF 1994-95
The railway memorabilia is easily accessible. They're placed in a grassy area beside a set of off-street parking spaces for a handful of local shops and restaurants and centered between a rail line along Towanda Street to the west and the Lehigh River to the east. This section of the small borough is on the north side of I-80 at Exit 273.
