These two mill stones are located outside of Wayne Town Hall along Route 322 in Wayne Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio. The mill stones are displayed upright, side-by-side, so they can easily been seen and touched. They both have furrows. Affixed to the stones is a plaque explaining their history. The plaque has the title, "Old Grist Mill 1820-1902," and explains the history of these stones. It says:

"Original mill stones used in first grist mill in Wayne Township. Weight 3540 pounds. Cut from native stone which proved too soft, replaced by French stone.

"Grist mill built by Loomis and Brown on Pymatuning Creek, south of Underwood Rd., in 1820.

"A mile-long mill race, dug in 1826, provided additional water power. Last owner-operator was Charles Forbes. Mill abandoned in 1902.

"Stones donated and mounted by Don and Edythe Dillon at the Wayne Town Hall for 175th anniversary of the settling of Wayne Township, July 22nd and 23rd, 1978."
