[FR] Ouverte en 1903, la gare ferrovière de Vatan est l’archétype des gares secondaires construites au début du XXème siècle.
Le bâtiment actuel est formé d’un corps central et d’une aile destinés aux voyageurs. L’aile sud et sa grange, d’une époque plus tardive servaient d’entrepôt et de stockage pour le transport de marchandises.
Si les rails ont disparu du site, il reste de cette époque la gare et son quai couvert, l’entrepôt des machines, le puit et la grue de chargement.
Fermée en 1937 , la gare de Vatan est aujourd’hui désaffectée.
Le projet de la ville consiste à se réapproprier son patrimoine en installant un équipement collectif ouvert à tous : la Maison des services.
Le site accueillera bientôt des bureaux, un espace d’animation et une salle de réunion ouverte à la location.
Des services et associations à but social investiront bientôt les locaux réhabilités et accessibles aux personnes à mobilité réduite.
[EN] Opened in 1903, the railway station of Vatan is the archetype of the secondary stations built at the beginning of the XXth century.
The current building is made up of a central body and a wing for passengers. The south wing and its barn, from a later period, were used as a warehouse and storage for the transport of goods.
Although the rails have disappeared from the site, the station and its covered platform, the engine shed, the well and the loading crane remain from that era.
Closed in 1937, the Vatan station is now disused.
The city's project is to reappropriate its heritage by installing a collective facility open to all: the House of Services.
The site will soon house offices, an entertainment area and a meeting room open for rent.
Services and associations with a social aim will soon occupy the renovated premises, which are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
