The Los Angeles Olympic Swim Stadium, built for the 1932 Summer Olympics, was still standing in 1984 but was beginning to show its age. So, a new venue was created for the 1984 games on the campus of the University of Southern California with the financial help of the McDonald’s corporation. All swimming and diving competition was held here with the exception of water polo.
After the Olympics, the McDonald’s Swim Stadium, as it was known for many years, was the home of the USC Trojans swimming and diving teams. After renovations in 2013-14, the venue was renamed the ‘Uytengsu Aquatics Center’ after Filipino businessman Fred Uytengsu, a USC alumnus who donated $8 million toward the face lift.
