The doorway at Björnekulla church consists of 2 doors. The doors are built of oak probably and are covered with copper from 1955. They remain their original strong hinges in the form of buckhorns.

Björnekulla church was inaugurated on the First Sunday of Advent in 1889. The population increase in connection with
the expansion of the railway and the rise of the station community led to a great need for a new one
Church. The church was built over the old church, which
expanded several times, but which stood on the same
place since the 13th century.
Björnekulla church can be seen far and wide, and on the church steps before entering, it is appropriate to
stop for a little while and look out over it
breathtaking view of the plain.
Björnekulla church is a magnificent building, with a tall tower and many different ones
building details. The church is an unusually successful example of the pointed arch style, where one in
the spirit of the times, inspired by Gothic from the 13th and 15th centuries, strove for the lines
would aspire upwards and the arches meet at the apex, in contrast to the Romanesque style of the old church which is characterized by rounded arches in arches and windows. The architect behind
church is Gustaf Petersson, who at this time was employed in the Office of the Superintendent
with a good reputation, and with extensive experience in church construction. He had before
among other things led the rebuilding of Visby cathedral and Vadstena monastery church and drew
several churches.
The new church was built in brick which was then plastered and whitewashed. The tower is 53 meters high. The church steeple is 170 cm high. The rooster is a church symbol of vigilance.
