When Allerum's church was built at the end of the 12th century, it was dedicated to Saint Egidius
Already at the end of the 17th century, they began to discuss expanding the church into a cruciform church. The southern cross arm
was erected in 1767 by the church's patron Christian Didrik von Conowen who was a warm advocate of the Herrnhut
doctrine, and during his time Johannes Sundius was appointed as priest in Allerum who became a widely known preacher who drew
large crowds to his sermons.
Also in the 1830s and 1840s, the church underwent extensive remodeling. The northern cross arm was demolished at the same time as
the apse was demolished. The chancel was rebuilt into a sacristy, a new chancel was set up and the previous vaults were demolished. With this it was
original church largely gone, apart from parts of the sacristy and choir walls, and there we can see some of
the plaster paintings which may be from the 16th or 17th century.
- The pulpit is made of wood in 1840.
- The baptismal font is made of sandstone are believed to be from the 12th century, the basin is made in 16th century.
- There are 2 bells in the tower, Bigbell is made in 1520, and the smallbell is made in 1636.
- The organ was built in 2000 by Kaliff & Löthman, Ålem.
