County of church: St. Charles County
Location of church: Jungermann Rd. & Willott Rd., St. Peters
Phone: 636.928.5885
Pastor: Rev. Dr. Mark Hoehner
Built: 2002

The cross is in the front, on the edge of a steep incline, and stands about 25+ feet tall, and is black, and made of steel.

This church sits way back from Jungermann. It has a Jungermann address because the original church sat right on the road, and their mail box is still at the end of the drive on Jungermann.

"Yes, that’s right, it is Chapel of the Cross’ 40th birthday since her first worship service March 14th 1982. Those who gathered to worship were led to officially charter what we know today as Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church on January 15, 1984 – so technically that could be a birthday celebration as well. Regardless of which date you use, it is an awesome thing that God has done through Chapel of the Cross these past 40 years.

"It all started when Rev. Milton Nauss, the pastor of Chapel of the Cross in N. St. Louis County, gathered those who had moved to St. Charles County and encouraged them to begin worshipping. The Rev. Edward Schmidt was asked to lead services until Pastor Kenton Rohrberg was called to serve as Chapel’s first full time pastor. This group began worshipping at what was a movie theater on Mexico Road, across from Cave Springs Bowling. They then moved to a store front in the Cave Springs Mall in September of 1982 before acquiring the 10 acre property which we own today. The first church building was constructed where Walgreens stands today, and 227 people gathered for the first worship service in the new Church sanctuary on August 2, 1987.

"It took Chapel of the Cross 10 years to become a self supporting congregation, which meant our church no longer needed financial help from the English District, and was no longer considered a “mission church.” In 2002, the current church building and sanctuary was finished and dedicated." ~ Chapel of the Cross Newsletter
