Tenterfield School of Arts was built in four stages - 1876, the original part of the existing school of Arts complex, comprising a Hall and Reading rooms, 1884 the Victorian Rustic Gothic/ Romanesque style No 2 hall facing Rouse St, 1903 the Main Hall in Federation Free Classical style as a memorial to men from Tenterfield who gave their lives during the Boer War, 1898 - 1901., 1913 the Federation Style billiard room.
