The Firehouse for the volunteer fire brigade of Bulahdelah is a long, single-storey structure. It is about 40 metres long, and mostly 10 metres deep; with the middle section built of motley-coloured brown bricks. It looks like the original building has a flat, or skillion roof of khaki Colorbond, with a single white door.
With a slightly newer, similar brick used to the north for what had been a two-bay section, but those bay entries have been filled with with double-doors. A further 6m motley brown brick section has been added; along with two light-green Colorbond roller door bays further to the north - those two being 7m wide. All of this is under a low-pitch, wheat-coloured Colorbond roof with two sets of three whirly-birds on this section of the roof.
The probable newest addition is the southern three-bay, khaki fronted, and wheat-coloured roller doors with Colorbond cladding and low-pitched hip roof. One of the roller doors is slightly wider than the other two. Behind this is a 'telegraph pole' with a braced 't'-head and four pulleys, for raising and draining the used fire hoses. There is a gravel entry to these three bays. The northern section has lawn to the front, with a concrete footpath to the skillion roofed oldest building. A couple of concrete road/highway barriers ensure easy egress for the fire vehicles, keeping the volunteers own cars out of the way.
