This low lying pillar at 44 metres above sea level can be found between field margins in the rural area of Tarty, between the Aberdeenshire town of Ellon and the large village of Newburgh, some ten miles to the north of the city of Aberdeen. It lies some hundred yards to the east of a minor road between the A90 and the River Ythan and remains in good condition. Views are expansive but of mostly low countryside.
STEEPNESS: None.
TERRAIN: Depending on the season, but mostly in tall grass on a narrow strip between the fields.
ACCESSIBILITY: It lies around a hundred yards from the road due east from a roadside mobile phone mast in a narrow strip between fences.
NAVIGATION: Head east just south of the mast along the northern fence on the edge of the field which is not barbed-wired (the southern fence is) until the pillar appears. It might be possible to head between the fences if the grass was shorter.
DANGER: The barbed-wire on the southern fence which is where the flushbracket faces.
