Your best bet for parking is a small pullout on the park road just northeast of the trailhead at the listed coordinates. This is the southern access point, with another along the Onion Creek Trail. Up there, you can park here and take a short walk to reach the northern access point.

This is not a loop, so the shortest walk is to return back the way you came, although one way to extend the hike is to follow the Onion Creek Trail back down to Park Road 63 and watch traffic as you hike back to where you parked on the road near the camping area.

All the trails in the park are on dirt where they're simply scalping the grass. The walk itself is pretty easy, although ascending the rock stairway to the ridge may be why the park refers to the difficulty of the hike as "moderate". The park's trails map refers to the view on high as an "expansive overlook", but frankly, what you see are the tops of the mesquite trees, and there's a bench there where you can take a break. The real scenery is along the ridge and then when you descend, as the mesquites cover the trail a bit to provide some shade. Words cannot convey how pleasant this walk is, nor of the experience at 102°.
