Enfield Falls Canal - Suffield to Windsor Locks, CT - Wikipedia Entries on Waymarking.com

The towpath of the Enfield Falls Canal, a.k.a. Windsor Locks Canal, is now within the Windsor Lock Canal Trail State Park. The northern terminus of the canal is in Suffield, CT. Here there is the headquarters building for the Windsor Lock Canal State Park and four marked sites:

1. The Drawbridge over the canal leading to the tow path.
2. The Guard Lock
3. The Headworks
4. The Dam

From the northern terminus the canal and adjacent tow path continues south for 4.5 miles and ends in Windsor Locks. The canal, which is privately owned, is no longer used for navigation and the locks have not been uses since the 1970's. The towpath is on public property and is available for hiking, cycling, and bird watching from April 1 through November 15. (visit link)
