On Saturday 8 April 1893 David (Dé) Sanders was born in Leeuwarden. His parents, Salomon Sanders and Hester Henriette Haagman, were married in Rotterdam almost a year earlier, on Wednesday 22 June 1892 in the old town hall on the Kaasmarkt. Since 1891 they have had a mirror and frame workshop at 18 Sint Jacobsstraat in Leeuwarden.
