The Oranje-Hotel in Leeuwarden is located directly opposite the train station. As early as 1879, the hotel started operating as a simple guesthouse and was expanded into a four-star hotel in the years that followed. A few years after the Second World War, the hotel joined the Eden Group, founded in 1947. Over the years, further parts of the building were added to the rear and now 78 rooms are spread over two floors. The rooms themselves are quite modern in design. The lobby and bar area, on the other hand, are still decorated in the style of the 1970s, with pictures and newspaper clippings from the last 140 years of hotel operation on one wall.
