'The Old Bank Centre' was established in 1904 (by the sign on the roof) and advertises itself as a Newsagency, Liquor Store, 7-Day Groceries, and selling Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, as well as being an Australia Post agent. There is also a Little Street Library at the front of the building. Plenty of solar panels on the red corrugated iron roof. Adequate parking at the front.
A painted sign on the wall has the following text:
HISTORY of the OLD BANK CENTRE Nabiac.
"On this site in 1904 was erected the first bank in Nabiac, "The London Bank of Australia" which opened for business in 1905. Later known as the "E.S.&A. (English, Scottish & Australian) Bank". It was still operating in the early 1970's. The original building still stands at the rear of this site and although in a state of disrepair has recently been given a Classified listing in the National Trust of Aust's Register. Most of the rooms have pressed metal walls & ceilings. The building is regarded by the Trust as "one of the few buildings in Nabiac with any stylistic pretensions". It will be restored in the near future.
"January 1988."
"Restoration of the "Old Bank Building" was completed in December 1989. It is now a private residence."
