The Oranje-Hotel in Leeuwarden is located directly opposite the train station. As early as 1879, the hotel started operating as a simple guesthouse and was expanded into a four-star hotel in the years that followed. There are 78 modern decorated rooms on the two floors of the hotel, all of which have a shower or a bathtub (as we had), a small fridge, a TV with various international channels, air conditioning, a small desk, a sufficient number of sockets and access to the hotel's WiFi (free for guests). There is also a bar next to the lobby, which offers some snacks.
Parking space is available in the park house next to the hotel or about 400m away in the public park house "Klanderij". The hotel can be found online under "oranjehotelleeuwarden.com", but it is also listed on various booking portals. According to the hotel, the prices for a room start at 89 euros per night, but these can also vary significantly during the holiday season and at weekends (we paid 110 EUR per night for the room). Breakfast is not included in the price and costs an extra of 17.50 EUR per person.
We stayed here for another geocaching weekend in the region. At check-in we were greeted in a friendly manner. The bed was very comfortable, the room quiet and the breakfast was rich with rolls, croissants, fresh baked bread, various toppings (sausage, cheese, chocolate sprinkles, jam), yoghurt, muesli, various juices, coffee, tea , milk, poffertjes, scrambled eggs and fried bacon. Breakfast is offered from 7:00 until 11:00. For dinner you should visit a restaurant in the city - which is luckily just a short walk away.
