Long Description:
"This church, which watches over the dykes, was rebuilt in 1684. Its origin dates back to the 11th century. The flood of 1630 overthrew it.
The origins of the church go back to the 11th century. Its namesake, Sainte Anne, was also the patron saint of one of the most extensive dyke projects of the time, the Digue de la Duchesse Anne, a dyke that closes the Marais de Dol to the Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel. The chapel was destroyed by a flood in 1630, but rebuilt in 1684. During the French Revolution, the chapel was secularized and restored in the second decade of the 19th century. To this day there is a procession of the surrounding Catholic parishes on St. Anne's Day.
A renaturation project around the chapel has been underway since 2005 to restore some of the lagoons that existed at this point until the 1960s."
