The Ellington Congregational Church was built in 1915 in the Colonial Revival style. A set of steps leads up to a portico entrance. The pediment above the entrance is supported by four Ionic columns. Rising form the apex of the gable roof is a steeple with a square tower at the base, followed by a three sided clock tower with a railing along the roof, a belfry with louvered windows with rounded tops on all four sides and a tapered hexagonal spire topped with a weather vane.

The east side of the building has an auxiliary entrance at the basement level with two rectangular windows above. Then there are three Palladian windows on the upper level. The end has two vertically oriented windows above the basement level. The west side lacks the auxiliary entrance but has the same arrangement of windows.
