The former Teachers College Foundation stone was laid in 1929 and building completed in 1931 on the site of Armidale's original gaol c1863.
The face brick Classical Revival style building has a Long, hipped, slate roof. The facade features recessed colonnaded verandahs the centre section of which features massive, two storey, Ionic columns and wide steps
Since 2004 the building has housed the New England Conservatorium of Music
