Oh-yu ("yu" means hot water like Spa) is notable for its beautiful bathhouse architecture that conveys the atmosphere of the Edo period.
No one knows when this Spa area is opened. It is said to have been called "Sou-yu" by the locals where "Sou" refers to the village community of farmers that has existed since the Middle Ages.
The villagers seem to have united around the hot spring. The spring is a simple sulfur spring. It is effective for gastroenteric diseases, rheumatism, women's diseases, and gout.
