This trailhead for the North Country Trail is located along Forest Road 449 (FR 449) in the Allegheny National Forest in Forest County, Pennsylvania. At the trailhead is a sign for the North Country Trail and a small parking area that can fit three vehicles. A sign on the south side of the road indicates that a hiker continuing on the trail north for 6.7 miles will end up at Forest Road 116. A sign on the north side of the road indicates that a hiker continuing on the trail south for 5.9 miles will end up at Route 666. There are multiple campsites along both the north and south sections from this point. To the north are the Beaver Run and Coalbed Run campsites. To the south are the Spring Road and East Fork campsites. Along the northern section, between FR 449 and FR 116, a hiker will cross Coalbed Run on the "stidge," or staircase bridge.
