During the great war 1914- 1918 Illogan was a relatively small village. For such a small village it was sad to see so many fallen heros. The impact on the local community must have been tremendous.

The local stone, Granite, Cross is approximately 4 meters high and sits on a Granite square base, which is approximately one meter high.
The base, four sides are covered with the list of the fallen, predominantly from the first world war, but has sections for the second world war and other conflicts for the local heroes who died serving our Country.
The memorial is within the churchyard adjacent to the south transept of the church.
