Description

L’église Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité, qui contiendrait les reliques de Sainte-Constance (provenant de la famille de Berghes d’Olhain), date de 1875-1879 (clocher réhaussé en 1875). Elle a été reconstruite sur les bases de l’ancienne, mais dans un axe perpendiculairement opposé à la nef. – Importants travaux de 1728 à 1778 – 15 frimaire an VII (en 1800) importants dégats – 1823 L’église est en ruine -1861 remise en état de la tour – 1875 démolition et reconstruction de la nef et du choeur selon un axe perpendiculaire à l’ancien édifice -1892 reconstruction du clocher (clocher ancien réhaussé) et achèvement de l’église actuelle.

Selon « l’albums de Croÿ » ~ 1600) « Edifice en Briques, couvert d’ardoise : la tour est basée sur un plan carré, possède de curieux contreforts à glacis, ancrés aux 2/3 de la hauteur et 2 doublets de fenêtres à l’étage des cloches sur la face nord mais surtout chemin de ronde, petite construction sur la terrasse (poste de guet ?) éclairée sur chaque face fenêtres et surmontée d’un toit à 4 pans; nef de 3 travées dont 2 éclairées par des fenêtres en plein cintre sous archivolter. D’allure romane, choeur plus bas, de 2 travées. »

Of Romanesque look, lower choir, 2 bays. »
