Union, CT was first settled in 1720. The church congregation was formed on December 13, 1738 and celebrated 275th Anniversary of it's founding on December 22, 2013. The current church was built in 1833 and dedicated in 1834. It was remodeled twice and rededicated on July 25, 1866.

The Colonial Revival style Union Congregational Church has a gable roof. The façade of the church is three bays wide with two entrances with slanted roofs separated by a 3 by 6 pane double hung window with dark green shutters. The second level has rectangular louvered windows above the entrances. At the apex of the gable front gable is a multi-pane triangular window.

Rising from the top of the gable roof is a two stage steeple. A square belfry with louvered windows is built on top of a larger square tower. The sides of the church have three large rectangular windows. Attached to the back is an addition that extends to the west.
Year built or dedicated as indicated on the structure or plaque: 1833
