Pulpit, with large sound board above, at the east end of Sidmouth Unitarian Church. 18th century, probably contemporary with the building. The octagonal pulpit is of oak and has plain paneled sides.
The chapel (Unitarian) was erected in 1710 on the site of a former barn at the rear of the White Hart Inn, the congregation having moved from premises in what was then Theatre Lane (now East Street). The later rebuilding of the chapel was in part financed by local benefactress Miss Leigh Browne.
