The fact of the matter is that you can fish along any shoreline within the park, but this is an officially designated fishing location, so boaters and anglers should be aware of each other at all times. If you stay onshore, there are restrooms with running water at the Post Oak camping area nearby, and there are a few picnic tables and grills here. There are 100 spaces for parking and a fish cleaning station at the top of the boat ramp.
There are no obvious signs about restrictions, but Texas Parks and Wildlife also has a list of park bag limits, and be aware that you'll need to make contact with them within 24 hours if you land an alligator gar. When in doubt, check with the rangers when you come into the park. The most common species landed are largemouth, black, white, striped, and yellow bass; flathead, blue and channel catfish; carp, white and black crappie, sunfish, drum, and rainbow and brown trout.
No fishing license is required within Texas State Parks, so you can grab your gear and come on in. The entrance fee is $5 for each person 13 years and older: If you fish a lot or have a group, you might consider an annual state parks pass, which pays for itself quickly. When the ranger station is manned, they'll take care of you, but otherwise, you'll square up with the self-pay station there. Annual pass holders have a placard for their rear view mirror, and the rangers advise placing your identification into it. Do be aware that they patrol the area, looking for scofflaws.
