The village of Kenmore is situated near the centre of Scotland in the highland part of Perthshire at the eastern end of Loch Tay. The original parish church and graveyard was at Inchadney to the north-east of the village, this was closed after a new church was built in Kenmore in 1669, and no trace exists of the church or graveyard.
In 1760, the 3rd Earl of Breadalbane set out to build a model planned village at Kenmore which also involved building a new church on the site of its predecessor. At the same time a churchyard was also laid out on the surrounding land which occupies a peninsula between the loch and the River Tay to the north. The church, which occupies the highest part of the land, was designed by William Baker, and is a white-harled building with a tower on the eastern gable. The sloping land mostly to the north, west and south contains nearly 1,000 gravestones, including an heir to the Kingdom of Punjab. The featured gravestone, to the south-west of the church reads as follows:
'TO THE MEMORY OF

WHO DIED SUDDENLY
