This counter was installed in 2014 in partnership between the Capital Regional District and the City of Victoria. It began recording data on December 18, 2014, and all of the cumulative data it has collected over time can be viewed online.

The sign is installed beside the Galloping Goose Regional Trail - a rail-to-trail conversion - just north of where it meets Harbour Road. It displays the current date and time, the current count of cyclists for the day (resetting at midnight), and a thermometer-style display showing the total cyclists for the year. It uses induction loops installed under the trail to detect passing cyclists, so pedestrians aren't included in the count.

In total, the counter has recorded over 5 million cyclists in the time it has been operating. The highest daily count occurred on May 27, 2019, when 4289 cyclists passed by.

At the time of Waymarking, at 1:24 pm on June 26, 2022, 1559 cyclists had passed by during the day.
