This State Park Passport Location is at the Oil Creek State Park office on Petroleum Center Road in Venango County, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania State Parks and State Forests Passport book is available for purchase at the office and the employees will gladly stamp the book for you. Oil Creek State Park is on page 98 in the book.

The entry in the book for the park notes that its highlight is history. The text for the park says, "Near the site of the world's first commercial oil well, this 7,300 acre park tells the story of the early petroleum industry by interpreting oil boomtowns and oil wells. Scenic deep hollows, steep hills, wetlands, and a meandering creek are found within the park. Travel through 'the valley that changed the world' on the 9.7 mile paved multi-use trail, on an excursion train, or hike the 36-mile Gerard Trail, with its attractive Adirondack shelters."

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources website, "The primary purpose of Oil Creek State Park is to tell the story of the changing landscape. The early petroleum industry’s oil boom towns and important oil well sites are in contrast with clean trout streams and forested hillsides seen today throughout the park. The events of the exciting 1860s, the time of the original oil boom, receive special emphasis."
