Before you assume it was the fault of the roofers, the historians paint a different picture. When the town was first established, a clerk in Toronto was apparently the first to make the error on George Tillson's name, hence Tilsonburg and the roofing job was said to reflect the "original" (yet incorrect) spelling of the town name. I get why they went for historical (in)accuracy and it makes for a bit of history trivia, but I'd have voted to spell it correctly if I had a say.
