"Noord-Sleen lies north of the village Sleen, which used to be called Zuid-Sleen. Zuid-Sleen' has however developed into the main village of the former municipality Sleen, which on 1 January 1998 merged into the municipality of Coevorden. From archaeological finds it may be deduced that Noord-Sleen has been inhabited far before the common era, witness also the dolmens (D50 and D51) on the Hunebedweg north of the Zweeloërstraat."
