This old water pump is preserved alongside the public footpath which runs from Castle Ham to Old Town Park in Okehampton.

The pump has a wooden board which reads:
'Victorian Water Supply
Water pumps from the workhouse and a local farm.'
The site of Castle Ham used to be the location of the workhouse of the town. There is an old door preserved at the beginning of the trail too.
It is a very pleasant walk leading to the old park alongside the West Okement River.
