City Stadium, now known as Conley Stadium, in Providence, RI, hosted the first home game of the Boston Patriots football team in 1960. Founded in 1959, the team played around the area until settling in Foxboro, MA in 1971 as the New England Patriots.

Founded in 1959, the team played at various venues around the area until 1971, settling in Foxboro, Massachusetts. That coincided with the franchise name change to the New England Patriots. On August 5, 1960, the Boston Patriots made their New England
debut at City Stadium, now known as Conley Stadium, when they
hosted the Denver Broncos in the inaugural season of the
American Football League (AFL). The Patriots won the game,
43-6, in their pre-season "home" opener.
