Description:
David Dunbar Buick was a Scottish-American inventor and founder of Buick Motor Company. He produced many inventions including a lawn sprinkler. He developed an interest in internal combustible engines in the 1890s and set up a new company, the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, in 1899.
In 1902 he borrowed $5000 to start the Buick Manufacturing Company. The company was merged with a firm in Flint and Buick virtually signed away his future. In 1906 he left the company due to conflicting visions with the general manager and returned to Detroit.
Buick died in poverty in 1929 and was survived by his wife and son, Thomas.
