McCall Gardens Sequoia Centre - Saanich, British Columbia, Canada - Funeral Homes on Waymarking.com

The operation was originally founded in 1921 and was called McCall Bros. Funeral Directors. They operated out of a an old house at the corner of Johnson Street and Vancouver Street in downtown Victoria. As demand grew, the next generation of McCalls embarked on a project to replace the house with a new funeral home and chapel on the site. This home, designed by famous architect John Di Castri, was built in 1960 and was the largest independent funeral home in BC.

David McCall, the third generation of McCalls, purchased property beside the Royal Oak Burial Park in 1986 for the future location of a funeral home. The project to move from the downtown location to a new facility near the Burial Park was undertaken in 2014 and the Sequoia Centre opened in 2016. It's now operated by Trevor McCall, the fourth generation of the McCall family to run the business.

The Sequoia Centre is a modern facility with flexible spaces that can be configured depending on the size required. It's well-lit by large windows and surrounded by well-maintained gardens. The home can host both religious and non-denominational services.
