Suffield establish it's first public library when Chicago businessman Sidney Albert Kent donated $30,000 to build a library as a memorial to his parents, Albert and Lucinda Kent. The library opened in 1899. This library was subsequently sold to nearby Suffield Academy to raise funds for the present Kent Memorial Library.
The current library was designed by architect Warren Platner in the Modernist style and opened in 1972. In 2008 the library was saved from demolition and underwent renovation.
