The lychgate has a steep brick roof on a wooden frame. The base is a part of the surrounding wall. There is a iron gate.
St. Leonard's Church dates back to he reign of King Henry I (1100 – 1135) but the presentchurch was rebuilt in 1841–42 by George Webster. The lychgate could probably have been built in that same period.
